Windsor Rugby Club was presented on the 20th May with a certificate and plaque in recognition of achieving the RFU’s Whole Club Seal of Approval – the first club in England to do so.

Windsor relies very much on volunteers – coaches, referees, organisers and many more.  Without them we couldn’t progress.  This award recognises their efforts and will ensure that we improve and expand along the right lines.

“Rugby is meant to be enjoyed by all ages and abilities but clubs need good organisation to enable this to happen.  Being the first club in England to achieve this says a lot about Windsor Rugby Club and I would like to say a very big ‘thank you’ to everyone at the club who worked so hard to achieve it.”

Ian Potter agreed, adding:  “Like all rugby clubs, big and small,

“The Whole Club Seal of Approval is designed to encourage ‘best practice’ in all aspects of running a rugby club.  It helps clubs to assess where they are and it provides a template for them to move forward.  It is certainly not just an exercise in form filling.  We at the RFU hope that all clubs will adopt this and use it to their advantage.”

Brian Williams said: “It is a real pleasure to present the first of these awards to Windsor Rugby Club.  A great deal of hard work must have gone into achieving this.  It shows that the club is serious about developing rugby football in their area.

The award was presented on the pitch at Twickenham by RFU President Brian Williams to Windsor RFC Chairman, Ian Potter.
