Welcome to Windsor Rugby Juniors
Junior rugby is designed to carry on developing young boys' enthusiasm for this king of sports throughout their teenage years. At Windsor we run five age groups from Under 13s to Under 17s and although many of the boys will have progressed up from our Minis section, we also welcome at any time, new players from other clubs or who are new to the area.
Our season runs every Sunday morning (excluding Xmas/New Year and Easter) for eight months from September to April and comprises a mixture of ’friendly’ fixtures against other clubs; both local and from further afield. Our Juniors also participate in the Berkshire League against seven or so clubs from within the county who compete for the title of Berkshire League champions.
Another major event in our calendar is the Juniors Tournament, which, unlike many of these festivals, is held early in the season on the second Sunday of October. Last year some 32 teams involving over 640 players competed across the Under 13 to Under 16 age groups.
Interspersed between all these activities are of course those vital training sessions, run by our dedicated team of qualified (but unpaid!) coaches who help develop both individual and collective skills.
All of our Junior teams tour at least once a year, both within and without the UK. In the last year for example our Juniors have toured to countries that include South Africa, Italy, France and Ireland.
As well as the players themselves, we are always pleased to see parents and friends supporting their team - whether it’s at Home Park or particularly when we travel away for fixtures - help with transport is always much appreciated!
